Lamaignere Shipping initiated collaboration with the Port of Seville to increase the visits of mega yachts and cruises

Lamaignere Shipping initiated collaboration with the port of Seville to increase the visits of mega yachts and cruises at the port by the reinitiation of the Belle de Cadix trips and welcoming the arrival of the Kaos megayacht.

The first week of September is beginning with great news for the cruise ship traffic in Andalusia. For starters, last Saturday September 4, the ‘Belle de Cadix‘ of the Croisierupe company, which is based in the Port of Seville, made its first stopover in Seville and which will later make stops in the Ports of Huelva and Cádiz before returning to Seville again on Tuesday, September 7.  Also, next Wednesday September 8, we will be receiving at the Seville port the megayacht ‘Kaos’, a luxury boat of 110 meters in length, valued at almost 300 million euros.

At Lamaignere Shipping we believe that these activities will serve as a great boosters for the high-end cruise and megayacht sector in Andalusia and will gradually help us reach pre-pandemic levels.

We also would like to thank the Diario de Huelva for mentioning Lamaignere Shipping as the consignees with regards to this news, and the Port of Huelva for their enthusiasm and collaboration on this project.

Andalusia, a region with fantastic weather conditions for yachting

Andalusia, a region with fantastic weather conditions for yachting

Andalusia is the largest region of Spain and it is located in the south of the country. Therefore, when we talk about the weather conditions in Andalusia we are referring to a region that has a predominantly Mediterranean climate. However because of its great extensiveness, it’s temperatures and conditions will vary depending on the area, altitude and latitude. Regardless, the Mediterranean climate has, by definition, many hours of sunshine, warm temperatures in the summer and mild weather in the winter.

Why are the weather conditions at the Andalusian coast ideal for yachting?

The Andalusian coast, from Huelva to Tarifa, in Cadiz, feature an Oceanic Mediterranean climate and from Tarifa to the western-most edge of Almeria, which include both the coasts of Malaga and Granada, a Tropical Mediterranean climate. Both of these weather climates boast temperatures that are conducive to yachting and yacht tourism, year-round. In fact, the average temperature, for both Malaga and the costa del Sol is approximately 18 degrees Celsius making it ideal for tourism in any season.

Another great attraction of this region, to both foreign and national tourists alike, is the fact that this region receives many hours of sunshine per day, throughout the year, and unlikely to receive rain for days on end.
For your convenience, as visitors to our website, we have included this weather channel link for you to use to check the weather conditions in any part of Andalusia.

Costa del Sol: what is the origin of the name? Where is located?

Costa del Sol: what is the origin of the name? Where is located?

The “Costa del Sol“ is one of the most popular tourist destination in Spain. Approximately 35% of all tourists to this country choose to visit the Costa del Sol coastal area. But how did this area get its name?

The concept of Costa del Sol was coined by Rodolfo Lussning in 1928, owner of a hotel in Almeria, as a part of a promotional campaign presented in the newspaper ¨La Cronica Meridional¨. The goal of the campaign was to attract new foreign tourists to the 1929 expositions in Seville and Barcelona. The name was not adopted, as a mainstream concept and/or used in the different communication media, until 1947.

Where is Costa del Sol located?

Today, the Costa del Sol zone stretches along 185km of the coast of Malaga starting at the municipality of La Linea de la Conception all the way to Nerja; although sometimes some municipalities of the coast of Granada up until Motril may also be included.

Costa del Golf

Another coined name for the Costa del Sol is Costa del Golf. This name was given to this area owing to the high number of golf courses found in the region. In fact, Andalusia takes first place, in all of Spain and Europe, for the number of golf courses it has. Therefore it is a fantastic zone and an ideal place to do this sport if you decide to visit Andalusia by yacht.

4 things to do in Seville, whether you arrive to it the traditional way or by cruising on your yacht

4 things to do in Seville, whether you arrive to it the traditional way or by cruising on your yacht

Is visiting Seville one of your travel destination’s wish list items? Do you wish to visit this region by yacht? Both are possible due to Seville’s unique inland port; the only one in all of Spain. Being located on the Guadalquivir river, Sevilla can be accessed by rail, air, motorway, and ship.

In this blog post we share with you 4 things you can do in this beautiful city:

1.Discover the historical centre which houses 3 important Unesco World Heritage sites

The Cathedral of Seville, with its Giralda, the Royal Alcazar and the General Archives of the Indies are must see monuments. Our recommendation is to meander the streets enjoying all the sights and sounds of the centre. This area of Seville can be enjoyed without a car as many of its streets are pedestrian zones only.

2. Other interesting areas outside the historical centre that are worth a visit

If you visit the famous Spain square (Plaza España) you will immediately experience a sense of harmony and peace as you enjoy the Renaissance Revival architecture style of the building that surrounds it.  The superb plaza was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition.  This complex has been immortalized in movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars and Game of Thrones. It is also special as it´s building is decorated with ceramic tiles representing all of the provinces of Spain.  Also it is located next to the Maria Luisa Park; a green space that includes gardens of the San Telmo palace.  Just a 15 – 20 minutes-walk from this area, you will find yourself in the neighbourhoods of Triana and Los Remedios or next to iconic places such as the Gold tower (Torre de Oro) near the river or the famous Santa Cruz neighbourhood.

3. Gastronomic experiences

Seville has an incredible number of restaurants at which any tourist can savour the main traditional dishes of Andalusia.

4. Enjoy cultural activities/experiences

As the capital of Andalusia, Seville has a lot to offer in terms of experiencing the rich Andalusian culture.  It has many beautiful venues where you can see flamenco performances, concerts and other live music. Depending on the time of the year, you can also enjoy it’s many festivals; most renowned of all are the festivities of Semana Santa (Holy Week) or the Feria de Sevilla (the Seville fair).

If you would like to discover Seville and have a great experience of this city, contact us at Lamaignere Shipping and we will make sure you are well taken care of. Through our office in Seville, we can coordinate many of the yacht services and entertainment experiences requested by our yacht customers.
